Puppy class, tennis court distraction and Capitol visit.

It's been a few days since I have updated Battier's blog. Since the last update we went to the State Capitol and walked around the park, posed by flowers, practiced downs while I fed some squirrels and more commands in a distracting environment. Battier did very well! She did drool a little when I was feeding the squirrels, but that was more about the kibble than the squirrels.

Sometimes you just have to stop and smell the roses!

Tonight we had puppy class at the Roseville Galleria. Battier did great! We worked on "wait", a lot of different "back" situations. Battier did awesome when we backed in a complete square using a 4 x 4 of a brick design as a guide. Practicing "sit" from a "down" might not seem that complicated, but without practice it can be for the dogs. Battier did well with this, we practiced it this week since she didn't see to get the concept that well last week. We also had a cradle line of puppy raisers and we cradled each dog in class. Battier likes the cradle, but a few puppy raisers were giving treats to the dogs in the cradle and that made Battier wiggle a little more. She is definitely a food motivated dog!

After puppy class I came home and played a little tennis on our ball machine. This was great practice for Battier and her first time on the tennis court when the ball machine was going. I had her on a tie down just to be safe and she did a great job!

Battier at Barwest, a favorite bar in Sacramento. It isn't very busy at lunch and was a fun spot to take Battier.
